Social justice

Good Shepherd Sisters Irish Province Social Justice Team.

Social Justice incarnated in the person of Jesus the Good Shepherd is our role model. The core Gospel values of human dignity, human rights and care of the environment are central to our mission.

The Constitutions of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd requires that our commitment to reconciliation demand that we promote justice and peace and that through a faith awareness of having our being in God, we can act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with God. Works of Justice are far reaching where we have a responsibility for developing in ourselves and in our society an international concern for justice.

The Irish Province Social Justice Team is guided by our Constitution and directed by the commitments of the Province Chapter 2008 to focus on “solidarity with the poor and economic justice” and the General Chapter 2009 to “work zealously with women and children, especially those who are trafficked, forced to migrate and oppressed by abject poverty. We support projects for economic justice, confront unjust systems and take a “corporate stance” when appropriate”.
